About Us

My name is Donny Wessels, and I’m the general manager of ‘West State Billiards and Gamerooms’ retail stores. I joined the West State in 2011, opening its first retail store in Fullerton, CA. My story in relation to billiards starts way before 2011. In high school I began taking pool seriously. Practicing for hours each day, teaching myself proper aim, english, and banks. I had replaced the cloth on my dad’s table twice, which got the attention of the local billiard store where I was purchasing the cloth. After high school, 1991, I started working for that store, Goldenwest Billiards. I started at the bottom, the first day I was polishing balls by hand and gluing on cue tips. Eventually I started working on pool tables, and just a few years later I had my own billiard service business, SD Billiards. SD Billiards is a fond memory, accomplishing many personal goals: setting up professional tournaments, working for pros and semi pros, learning advanced techniques from Glen Hancock, and becoming the Diamond Billiards mechanic for CA. Pool has always been apart of my life, it’s a fascinating game. There are so many different designs, brands, felts, built to hide the staples and fasteners, and it’s interesting to see how tables have evolved over the years.
