Coastal Cottage Shuffleboard In Mission Viejo

These Mission Viejo homeowners wanted a piece of game furniture that fit into their limited entertainment space. Plank and Hide’s Beaumont model offered the best solution between style and size. Sales representative Paul Lockhart also helped these owners with the selection process to ensure the shuffleboard matched the dimensions for the perfect fit.

The living room in this home is adjacent to the dining area and an office. A set of double doors keeps the office separate from the other two areas, but it also limits the amount of wall space available for a game table. This made it especially important to measure for the right shuffleboard length. The walls are painted off-white, with a relatively limited color palette as well.

Despite these limitations, the room still feels airy, light, and open. It gives the illusion of a wide, open concept without the construction needed to achieve the look. The large glass patio doors help add to the natural light. It is also reflected off the white walls and other light-colored elements in the different spaces.

The wooden floor runs throughout the living room and dining area, acting as the grounding element for the design. Its color is reflected in the dining chair cushions and the shuffleboard table, as well as in the painted wood of the beach signs. Natural textures rule, bringing in a coastal aesthetic as well, which expands on the natural light. Rugs reflect the wall colors while adding another layer of texture.

In fact, the owners opted to layer two rugs over the wood floor in the living room. The second rug is blue, reflecting the blues and blue greens in the art hanging on the walls. Though darker, it can easily be seen as a representative of the deep ocean as opposed to the turquoise of the beach. The blue rug also reflects the woven look found in the dining room’s jute piece.

Into this cozy, coastal space comes Plank & Hide’s Beaumont shuffleboard table. With traditional woodworking styles, it brings this home from a modern coastal home to coastal cottage. Its worn finish and the little woodworking details recall the antique china cabinets used to display the good dishes. This call back to an older time offers a cozy nostalgia that makes for a great gaming atmosphere.

Like these antique pieces of furniture, this shuffleboard is also made of solid oak and elm, providing superior stability for gameplay. It is elegant in its design, with a black cloth surrounding the playing surface. Not only does it offer another touch of luxury, but it also highlights the playing surface and brings out the lighter tones in the wood.
