The owners of this Newport Beach property needed a source of entertainment that fit the rustic, country aesthetic of their property. Our associate Paul Lockhart was able to find the perfect fit in Olhausen’s Timber Ridge pool table.
The owners of this property created a separate space for entertaining, with enough room for a pool table, seating, and a bar. A converted barn, it has now become a comfortable space to spend time with guests and family. The walls have been painted black, with a pattern painted on the upper half for visual interest. On the ceiling, the beams were left uncovered for a more rustic feel that ties in with the ranch-like aesthetic of the space.
For more rustic charm, the owners opted for an accent wall of light brown wood, which holds three TVs and a mounted buffalo head. Echoing a similar teardrop pattern are the snakeskin-patterned seating and ottomans. To prevent this pattern from being too overwhelming, the sofas and chairs are in black. It helps tie in the black walls, too.
Along one of the walls is space for a bar, with built-in shelving to hold everything needed to craft great cocktails for friends and family. Bar stools provide some seating, too, which help creates an atmosphere of an authentic old Western saloon.
The Olhausen Timber Ridge table works in this space because of its purposeful rustic charm. It is made from select cuts of solid yellow pine and kept in its natural state rather than being polished. Those with finishes are distressed to create one-of-a-kind looks for each and every model. The rail and apron of the Timber Ridge model are made of reclaimed wood from old bars and outbuildings sourced from the Northeast United States, adding to its rustic charm.
Little touches such as the worn rail sights, handset joins, and tooled leather pockets give the pool table a comfortable, broken-in appearance. Even the newest table looks like a cherished keepsake rather than a new piece of furniture.
